Why Savor AI exists

The idea

Calorie tracking works, when people actually do it. Most food-logging apps ask you to hand over a food photo, a health profile, and often an account, to a server, in exchange for that convenience. Savor AI takes the opposite approach: the AI that recognizes your food and estimates your macros runs on your iPhone, so the convenience doesn't come with that trade-off.

What that means in practice

No account to create. No servers processing your meals. A food database and AI model that work in airplane mode. Apple Health sync that goes through Apple, not through us. It's a smaller, more boring feature set on paper than some competitors, on purpose, because the parts we left out are the parts that would have needed a server.
